During one of your numerous visits to the Parchem – fine & specialty chemicals website, it is likely that you have come across the logos for the certifying bodies we adhere to. Were you ever curious as to what being certified by those entities means?
If so, here are the essentials of each certification we proudly adhere to:
International Organization for Standardization, or the more commonly known ISO, is a set of standards for creating a customer focused quality management system (QMS). Adherence to ISO has allowed Parchem to process 98.8% of orders without incident. It has allowed us to instill trust into our growing customer base. Most importantly, it pushes us to respond efficiently to your needs, and provide the best services possible. ISO provides a comprehensive description of standards that require adherence. Some guiding principles include:
- Motivation and implication of top management
- Continual improvement
- Risk assessment
- Implementation and review of corrective actions
- Strong customer focus
At Parchem it is not enough to be certified and adhere to ISO 9001:2015. We desire to utilize the standard to its fullest potential, growing our business, and providing the highest quality services to our valued customers. The primary way in which we verify optimal use of the standard is through audits of our system. ISO recommends internal audits to evaluate the effectiveness of the QMS. Here at Parchem, it has been made policy to complete reoccurring internal audits of the ISO 9001:2015 QMS. We feel an internal audit alone is not enough to truly measure our adherence to the system. That is why after completing our internal audit, we contract a third-party auditor to evaluate our QMS. We are happy to provide a copy of our ISO 9001:2015 certificate for download here. The Drug, Chemical & Associated Technologies Association, or DCAT, is whose unique membership model integrates both innovator and generic drug manufacturers and suppliers of ingredients, development and manufacturing services, and related technologies. DCAT is committed to building relationships between its members, developing information resources, and delivering value.
As a distributor, we rely on suppliers and manufacturers to get you the product you need. To ensure that we are getting the highest quality products from a reliable source, Parchem has put in place an extensive supplier qualification process. Being a DCAT member, we can take our qualification process a step further, and use their vast database to find DCAT certified suppliers whose values overlap with ours. DCAT hosts numerous events highlighting educational programs and informational services, but more importantly, it allows members to network and meet face to face. Sometimes seeing a company on paper is not enough. Being able to interact and put a face to the name can provide so much more information on a company then a mission statement on a website.

Over the last decade the phrase genetically modified organisms, or GMOs, has been used in the media and at dinner parties alike. You may have even found yourself wondering what is a GMO? A GMO is an organism that has had the genes from another organism artificially forced into its own genes. The most common GMO’s we see are today crops and livestock. Crops will be modified to grow larger and faster, and livestock will be bred to develop more muscle or fat. You may be thinking, why are people opposed to GMOs? The major opposition is based around the issue that studies on the long-term health effects of GMOs are still “immature.” This is due to the fact the creation of GMOs is still relatively new. Many people believe that GMOs are causing increased pesticide resistance, allergies, and antibiotic resistance.
Naturally, this led to Parchem – fine and specialty chemicals striving to provide a wide array of non-GMO raw materials. We make sure to source from the most reliable suppliers in the industry, and require a statement ensuring the validity of all non-GMO products. We happily provide a GMO statement for ordered products upon request. Do you require a non-GMO raw material that Parchem is currently not sourcing? Just let us know and our dedicated technical team will find do everything they can to find it for you.
