Oct 18, 2013

Ephraim Rabin Attends USESC MeetingEphraim Rabin, CEO of Parchem – fine & specialty chemicals, attended the invitation only, high-level meeting on energy security and fuel competition held by the U.S. Energy Security Council on October 15th, 2013.  The meeting was well attended by cabinet secretaries, business executives and military leaders who had the exclusive opportunity to hear first-hand the U.S. Energy Council’s new report, Fuel and Choice for American Prosperity: Recommendation to the Nation on Opening the Transportation Fuel Market to Competition. The report was launched on a live C-SPAN broadcast featuring Ted Koppel and former Secretary of Defense and Energy Jim Schlesinger.  We invite you to watch by clicking here. Rabin, a sought-after expert within the chemical industry, expressed his commitment to weigh in and provide insights that help continue shaping the path forward in the transportation fuel sector.

The U.S. Energy Security Council is an expert group of government and private sector leaders working to advance policies designed to ensure that new cars sold in the U.S. will be open to fuel competition and that non-petroleum fuels, whether liquids, natural gas or electricity, can compete against oil in a free market environment. The Council includes former Secretaries of Defense, State, Interior, Transportation, Homeland Security, Agriculture, Navy and Air Force, a former Chairman of the Federal Reserve, three former National Security Advisors, Directors of Central Intelligence and National Reconnaissance Office, U.S. Senators, Governors, flag officers, head of companies, and a Nobel Laureate. A few of the noted attendees included: Hon. William Perry, former Secretary of Defense; Hon. Robert C. McFarlane, Former National Security Advisor; Gov. Tom Ridge, Former Secretary of Homeland Security; Hon. Senator Pete Domenici; Ted Koppel, Representative Office of Rep. Eliot Engel; Richard Westerdale, Department of State; Ambassador R. James Woolsey; Donna Redel, U.S. Energy Security Council; Admiral (ret.) James Lyons, United States Navy; Norman Augustine, U.S. Energy Security Council; Jim Synder, Bloomberg News; and Rebecca Levin, American Jewish Committee, just to name a few.

Mr. Rabin’s attendance was a testament of his support on the council’s views which offered a set of fiscally conservative domestic and international policy recommendations to speed the entry of new fuels and vehicles into the market with the aim of allowing more competition in the transportation fuel sector. “As the owner of a leading global chemical company, this topic is paramount to the viability of the industry and I applaud the council on having the foresight to include a diverse group of industry experts on this key issue” stated Rabin.
