Astaxanthin is a carotenoid that can be found most abundantly within a green microalgae known as Haematococcus pluvialis. Astaxanthin is most commonly used as an anti-oxidant for different health applications and as a supplement believed to give pain relief. It is also used in the process for coloring animal and fish foods.
